Although Romania has great potential for the use of wood energy,
up to now it has almost exclusively been used for heating and
supplying hot water to private homes. Only a small portion is used
for modern low-emission power plants. Recently the mind set of the
Romanian government has begun to change in regard to energy
production, leading to plans for expanding the use of biomass and
the construction of wood burning power plants
