Heat Map for the Highlands training event

Heat Map for the Highlands training event

24 March 2011, Inverness

AECOM were commissioned in December 2009 to develop a pilot Heat Map and associated tools for the Highland Council area. Broadly, the purpose of the Heat Map is to identify potential opportunities for the implementation of renewable heat technology in the Highlands. It has been prepared as a pilot by the Council and AECOM with support from Scottish Government and HIE, and is referred to in the "Renewable Heat Action Plan for Scotland" and in the latest edition of the Energy Savings Trust's pack "Sustainable Energy in the Built Environment -

Best practice for Scottish Planners".

The Heat Map brings together information on demand for heat and potential sources of supply for renewable heat and from there identifies opportunities for the development and use of renewable heat, having regard to information on skills/knowledge, constraints/opportunities and context. It will assist a wide range of work towards national targets, by informing plans, programmes and projects.

AECOM's work is now drawing to a close and, in advance of wider publicising and use of the Heat Map, we wish to invite you to a training seminar. Those invited include the project steering group and a selection of other people identified by the group as likely to find this session useful at this time. Emphasis will be on demonstrating to  potential future users of the Heat Map (or those likely to be interested in the approach taken) what the Heat Map's key functionality is and what information can be got out of it, to help in their work.

The training seminar is being held on Thursday 24 March at Highland Council HQ on Glenurquhart Road, Inverness. The start time will be 11am and the event will be finished by 3pm. Further details of the day will be supplied nearer the time. In the meantime, to enable us to plan for the day could you please let Kirsty McCreath know by Friday 11 March whether you will be attending, either by phoning her on 01463 702259 or by email to kirsty.mccreath@highland.gov.uk .

If you are unable to attend but wish to send a substitute, please provide their contact details.
