What machinery do you have for processing the
wood? What machinery and buildings do you need? How will you store
your wood? Is a drying facility required?
Buying wood processing equipment
can be a considerable investment. So its characteristics, outputs
and costs need to be carefully considered before purchase. You need
to make sure your equipment enables you to provide a good quality,
reliable supply of wood fuel for your market.
Financial support may be available through the Scotland Rural Development
Programme or Business
Gateway.
If, having looked at potential income and costs, the capital
investment cannot be justified, investigate whether you can hire
machinery such as wood chippers. There may also be a machinery ring or co-operative in your
area that you can take advantage of.
