Wood fuel is a natural sustainable source of energy for homes
and businesses. Burning wood is cost-effective, benefits the
environment and support rural economies.
Usewoodfuel Scotland is launching a campaign to promote
the use of wood as a natural and carbon lean source of heat for
homes and business through its free - to - use advisory
service.
The fuel good factor
will be a promotion to:
- increase the awareness, understanding and the benefits of
woodfuel
- stimulate demand for renewable timber resources and
installation of woodfuel heating systems
- encourage businesses to enter the supply chain
Do you fuel good?
Individuals, organisations and businesses in Scotland are
introducing the fuel good factor into their daily
lives.
The use of woodfuel to produce energy is growing rapidly across
the country, as people realise the financial and environmental
benefits of this natural fuel source.
Wood fuel burns in highly efficient, clean boilers which are
ideal for installing domestically, commercial and for use by the
public sector. The fuel itself comes from a variety of sustainable
sources such as existing forestry, new plantings or as a by
-product from timber processing. It comes in the form of logs,
woodchips, pellets or briquettes.
In 2011 the proposed launch of the Renewable
Heat Incentive (RHI) will enable more people and
organisations to install wood burning boilers by paying a financial
incentive based on the amount of renewable heat that is
produced.
So what could woodfuel do for you? As well as being a
source of heat woodfuel can;
- reduce heating costs in the long term and earn you money
through the Renewable Heat Incentive allowance.
- secure your energy supplies from local sources and help to grow
local jobs and investment
- reduce the amount of fossil fuel you currently use by
installing a greener alternative
