The following list contains contacts for people who have
indicated that they are currently supplying wood fuel or are
developing a wood fuel supply. Being included on this list does not
imply endorsement of the organisation or of product quality. It is
therefore essential that you ensure the wood chip or wood pellets
provided meet the specification of your heating system.
We recommend that you contact your potential supplier at an
early stage in project development to ensure they are able to
provide the fuel you need. Each boiler has a specification for the
type of chip or pellets it can use and you should check with your
equipment supplier/installer that the wood fuel available is
suitable. For wood chip, the two key quality requirements are:
- moisture content
- size of wood chip
Wood pellets should be supplied to a standard specification and
your supplier should be able to give you more details.
Researching the fuel supply options and holding discussions with
prospective suppliers at the planning stage will optimise boiler
effectiveness and significantly reduce operational risks. Other
considerations are the source of the raw material. It is also
essential that you check the delivery arrangements with your
supplier before designing and installing fuel storage.
