About Usewoodfuel Scotland

Usewoodfuel Scotland is a partnership between Forestry Commission Scotland, Scottish Government and Forest Research, The Biomass Energy Centre, Scottish Enterprise and is part funded by the European Union.  Our role is to increase the awareness, understanding and the benefits of woodfuel technology and to independently promote cost effective heat generation in commercial and industrial applications such as  local authorities, tourism businesses, the food and drink industry and the built environment.

Woodfuel suppliers list

The growing list of woodfuel suppliers across Scotland has been updated. You can now find out who supplies logs, chips and/or pellets in your local area.

For those supplying woodfuel you can also register as a supplier.

Key Funding Stream Launched

The world's first financial incentive of its kind to revolutionise the way heat is generated and used in buildings was launched 10th March 2011.

The Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) will support emerging technologies and businesses in Scotland, strengthening security of supply by reducing dependence on fossil fuel heating.

The RHI will provide a valuable revenue stream for those wishing to produce renewable heat.  It will also provide an important opportunity to help overcome  previous financial barriers to the  installation of woodfuel systems.

Woodfuel Forums

If you want to find out more about woodfuel in your area, why not go along to one of the regional woodfuel forums. Details of upcoming meetings are available on the woodfuel forum pages. If there are no meetings in your area, contact your local Usewoodfuel Officer to discuss opportunities.

Case Studies

Are you looking to get the "Fuel Good Factor"? A growing number of  people across Scotland are benefitting from the installation of woodfuel systems, both in terms of heating costs and carbon savings.  To see real life examples of how this is being done please take a look at our case studies.

Seen the case study? Want to visit the woodfuel project site to find out more? Contact your local Usewoodfuel Officer to arrange a visit.
