Biomass Energy Centre launches consultancy service

15 October 2012

"The Biomass Energy Centre is a small technical advisory service based within Forest Research. We have been providing impartial generic advice on biomass installations and fuel supply for a number of years now. This has been well received, and we've been getting a lot of positive feedback from both our customers and industry partners, who value our impartiality and broad range of expertise.

"We are now extending our service.

"In response to a number of requests for more detailed site-based recommendations, we are now able to provide a new range of services including:

  • Pre-Feasibility and feasibility studies -technical and financial assessments of biomass boiler and district heating
  • Evaluating annual fuel needs and likely costs.
  • Woodfuel assessments and plans showing how much fuel can be produced from woodland or energy crops.
  • Planning self-supply wood fuel management systems (as well as integration of fuel supply and existing woodland management plans).

"While there are many successful wood heating and self-supply wood heating schemes across the UK, each project is unique and there are a number of pitfalls and problems ranging from over-sized or under-sized boilers to the wrong type of boiler for the job and inappropriate wood handling systems that waste time and money.

"We provide objective advice based on the experience of hundreds of wood fired boiler systems. All the information we provide is completely impartial. We are far more concerned with getting a good installation than trying to sell you a particular technology, fuel type, or make of boiler. We are not affiliated with any fuel supplier, boiler installer or manufacturer.

" Contact us if you are considering installing a woodfuel system, or producing woodfuel, and also to pass on our details to any of your contacts who you feel may be interested.

"For more information or a free quotation, either email us or call us on 01420 526197 for an informal chat about your requirements."
