As part of its commitment to reducing its carbon footprint, Sky
commissioned the design of a solution for its Livingston contact
centre which would help it reach its 2020 sustainability
targets
The resulting project was the design, build and installation of
4 Biomass Heat Cabins housing 4 x 199kW ETA boilers which connect
to the existing internal heating and hot water system. The boilers
generate renewable energy to provide heat and hot water for the
2,500 staff based on-site in the most efficient manner possible.
They are expected to reduce the carbon output of the site by
approximately 500 tonnes per year - the equivalent of four million
car miles or 250 flights from Edinburgh to Las Vegas.
