How you go about specifying your system in detail,
and the process of getting the system installed, depends on your
own or in-house skills and the size of installation.
You can manage the whole project yourself, or contract all or
part of it to a third party. Biomass heating - a practical guide
for potential users (Carbon Trust) has a section on procurement
and implementation which looks at contract options as well as the
whole process. This is aimed at businesses and public sector
organisations.
One option is talk to an energy
services company (ESCo) who will design, install, maintain and
sometimes finance a wood fuel boiler system, as well as supplying
heat.
Our top tip
Early discussions between prospective suppliers and the
installer/project design team are essential!
