Maintenance
An average installation is expected to have a lifetime of 20-30 years. Although woodfuel boilers require minimal maintenance, like any system there is routine maintenance – periodic ash removal and general cleaning – this tends to be monthly and takes 10 minutes. Annual maintenance will take a few hours.
In addition because of the nature of the system with chip it is important to keep monitoring quality of fuel. The provider will do this if he /she is on a heat contract, if not provision should be done locally for this.
