The UK’s green energy awards, The Ashden Awards for Sustainable Energy have again teamed up with Energy in Buildings and Industry (EiBI) in order to promote the Awards to potential applicants in the commercial sector.
The Ashden Awards reward sustainable energy solutions across the UK that use renewable energy, or reduce energy demand, at a local level, offering an Award to businesses that have made renewable energy and energy efficiency products and services more accessible.
Winners receive a package of benefits including a broadcast-quality short film about their work, professional photographs and publicity materials, PR opportunities and a cash prize for expansion of the award-winning work. The Awards will be presented at a VIP ceremony in London in July 2010.
Last year’s Ashden Business Award was won by Geothermal International, one of the UK’s leading installers of ground source heat pumps, for achieving huge carbon savings (around 25,000 tonnes of CO2 per year) through the installation of nearly 800 systems with a total heating and cooling capacity of over 100 MW.
Environmentalist Jonathan Porritt, a supporter of the Ashden Awards said:
"With sustainable energy solutions now high on the public agenda, the Ashden Awards provide a valuable opportunity to highlight the very best schemes both in the UK and in developing countries. I do urge organisations to put themselves forward for these high-profile and prestigious Awards."
The deadline for expressions of interest in the UK Business Award 2010 is 27 October 2009.
